The Preprimary class at Diamante Montessori School is a prepared environment for children ranging in age from 3 to 6 years old. This three year developmental span enables older children to become role models to the younger children and aid the younger children in their physical, social, and academic development. Together they learn patience, nurturing, and respect for each other. The desire of the young child to “do it myself” is enhanced and independence grows for every age.

Maria Montessori’s concept of the “Prepared Environment” is that the environment can be designed to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child. In the calm, ordered Prepared Environment, children work at their own pace on activities of their own choice. They experience a blend of freedom and self-discipline in an environment carefully designed to meet their developmental needs.
